| Susan Owens, Director of Contemporary Worship |

Susan Owens has been in ministry her whole life. Being a
preacher’s kid, the daughter of Rev. William and Margie Molloy of Great Rivers
Conference, she has lived her life as a PK in Danville, Bismark, and
Sidell. Upon marrying Rev. Dr. Ray
Owens, they have served in Wellington, Decatur, Arthur, Bloomington, Lexington and
now Pontiac. She has always been involved in music ministry in the church
playing piano, organ, oboe, drums and keyboards. She had a Contemporary Music Praise Team in
the past called GLYAILY singers who sang throughout Illinois. Susan is a R.N. and has a Master’s degree in
Communication and she teaches at Illinois State University School of
Communication.
As directing pastor’s wife of the Pontiac First United Methodist Church, Susan
is privileged to lead as Coordinator of the Aflame Service, directs a team of
"Dancing Disciples” and "Dancing Disciples Too” along with being involved in
children’s ministry fulfilling our mission of making disciples of Jesus
Christ. Offering Contemporary Worship leadership
and directing the "Ignite” Praise Team, she anticipates great things that God
will do in and through this church family in the coming years.
Susan and Ray are the proud parents of three grown children. Their eldest son,
Brian and his wife Carlie (Roeschley) live in Chicago and are employed in the
Skokie school district. Their daughter, Meredith and her husband Nathan Hopping
are living in Macomb where Nate is the Director of the Wesley Foundation at
Western Illinois University. They are
expecting Susan and Ray’s first grandchild in December. Their youngest son,
Will, is a junior at Illinois State University majoring in Political Science
and will be attending Law School in the next couple of years.
Rev. Ray and Susan feel very blessed to call Pontiac their home and look
forward to many, many years of fruitful ministry at Pontiac First UMC.
