| After School Program |
Information
In the summer of
2002 it was announced that the Pontiac grade school district would be
eliminating it's long standing after school program. Parents across the community
immediately began to look for a new safe environment to place their children in
for care after school was out. Becky
Walker, the Children's Coordinator at First United Methodist Church organized
an after school program that would be held at the church. The new faith based after school program
would be staffed by her as the director.
The hope was to not only provide a safe environment for students, but
also to give them personal growth opportunities.
Children are bused
to the church by District 429. The After School Program does not meet when
school is not in session, or when students only meet for a half-day.
